NuevaYorkinos’ work is dedicated to preserving stories of Latin American and Caribbean diasporas in New York City. Lovers of this land, we acknowledge that our work situates itself within Lenapehoking, the traditional lands of the Lenape. We pay respect to all Lenape relatives and ancestors past, present and future. We pay respect to all Eastern Algonquin (Mahican of the upper Hudson Valley, and the Montauk, Shinnecock, and Unkechaug of eastern Long Island) relatives and ancestors past, present and future. We pay respect to all Haudenosaunee (Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca Nations), Abenaki, Arikara, Erie, Tonawanda, Tuscarora, and Wenro relatives and ancestors past, present, and future. We offer our care, gratitude, love, and respect for the land, the water, and the legacies of all Indigenous peoples to the state of present-day New York.
